Team Colorization
Cooler than tints, less space that Multiple outfits, it's TEAM COLORIZATION!
In a game I play called "The Battle for Wesnoth", team colorization is used. What they do is make a sprite using a certain color on the piece they want to change, Then in-game That color will change to whatever color team it is on. So all that would have to be done is make one Oddly colored sprite, and magically you get 8 different, good looking sprites in-game.
I don't know if this is possible with your coding language, but I highly recommend looking into this... unless you're doing something more amazing.

What. When did this game become more than 2 players?

It can still be two player. I, personally, would like to be able to play as the same character as someone else and be able to tell who is who.

Re: Team Colorization
it isnt necessary if its two players, and i would still have to add the sprites as a separate character

Sorry for bumping, but...KAZECoyote wrote:it isnt necessary if its two players, and i would still have to add the sprites as a separate character
You don't, you can make like he said, or I said a while ago on MG (for SSF2), make white/gray colored characters and then use the tints, it would be unnoticeable they are white/gray shade, possibilitng lots of color combinations. It isn't hard to code as far as I know.
They do it in almost any 3D game with textures, and in some 2D too.
The only bad part is recolor the characters with a gray color (at least where the alternate colors are applied).
Sorry for the bump again. *hope I explained it right*
